The Pathway Speech & Language family
wishes you all a very
Happy and Healthy New Year in 2012!
Snow Days in Texas?!
With our big, blue Texas sky and beautiful sunshine
who would ever think we have snow days in Texas!
If you remember last year, every now and then we do!
Just a reminder that we follow
GCISD, CISD, KISD and NWISD school closures.
Stay home and be safe should inclement weather head our way again this year!
Why chose Pathway for your family?
What is it about our Social Communication Groups
that is unique from other programs?
At Pathway Speech and Language, we carefully construct our groups based upon your child's age, oral language abilities, cognitive abilities
and goals you may have for your child.
We listen to your concerns and work as a team to help you and your family fully understand the subtle nuances of social (pragmatic) language.
Our Social Cognition Team consists of
Speech Language Pathologist, Amber Cloy, MS CCC/SLP
and our Social Thinking Mentor, Cherie Bennett.
Ms. Cloy and Ms. Bennett have been conducting Social Communication Groups together for nearly 5 years. Ms. Cloy brings her expertise as a speech pathologist, while Ms. Bennett brings her talent for teaching. Both have received multiple trainings from those at the fore of the Social Thinking Community, such as Dr. John Ortiz, Carol Gray, Dr. Jed Baker and Michelle Garcia-Winner and Dr. Esther Hess (DIR/Floortime).
Ms. Bennett has been qualified as a Social Thinking Mentor
by Ms. Winner's clinic
in San Jose, CA.
Our Social Communication Groups are two-fold. Following direct teaching by Ms. Amber, Ms. Cherie gently guides your child in various real-life activities and encounters to apply what they have learned with Ms. Amber.
While your child works with Ms. Cherie, you will visit with Ms. Amber.
She will listen to any concerns you may have and show you what your child has learned during the session so that you may help your child apply what they learned in various social environments, including your home!
